The Spirit of Japan Festival had just passed, and the Oktoberfest was wrapping up for the final weekend in LoDo. The corner of 20th and Larimer was busy and alive as usual this time of year right as summer had been dwindling down and darkness fell sooner in the day.

Danica had been especially interested in the genre of โ€˜dramaโ€™ as she waited to convalesce from new drug that rendered her altered. The first week had been especially trepidatious as her reality was shifted. Unlike her usual self she remained home for days, lights were brighter, noise was louder, and her ability to focus even on small tasks was lost.

It had now been 11 days, but she had barely made it past day 8 and was waiting to regulate. It had been years since she had taken the drug and as she began to feel itโ€™s effects it was as though she traveled back in time. Several days felt nostalgic as she felt her mental health rearranging. She was curious what this would mean for her relationships as she felt more communicative and less obsessed.

Inside the 500 sq foot apartment lived her bookshelf with all the literature she had studied in her 4 years of sobriety. She had given away half of her collection but made sure to keep the copy of the NIV Bible and the Alcoholics Anonymous Big Book which was a fabulous read whether alcoholism was true or not.

She was spending most of her time on her light gray love seat and at her desk where her desk top computer and printer were. She spent a lot of time looking online for jobs before she had started this most recent drug but would return to that later after she had time to stabilize on the drug. She had everything to edit and create graphic art, videos, and recordings but it had been a while since she had recorded anything.

What was called for now was a reprieve. No searching for meaning or purpose, just adjusting and recovering. Danica was aware of some work that could be done or started but was saving that for a less demanding time. She had been in search for the cure and for answers neither of which she could find so what would be the harm in letting that quest hold off for a day.

She had about 10 days left to go before she would be in the green with her new medication. She thought that she might read her way through a few museums, maybe watch a few more shows, and complete most importantly, miles. Being outdoors was her favorite and being surrounded by the world.
